The service I received from the Surgeon, Anaesthetist,, Recovery Staff and the Phsyiotherapist was excellent. I couuld not have expected more and I am grateful. Improvement certainly needed regarding the ward staff who were very loud noisy and a bit of rude language used in their conversation among themselves. They failed to realise that the patients need peace to rest/sleep after returning from the surgery. Also there should have been a trained nurse to prepare the patient before surgery. Please treat the above comments to improve the image of the hospital rather than a complaint. Thank you

The team here are very professional and I felt they took time to answer questions and make me feel comfortable. There was no sense of anyone being in a rush or me being an inconvenience. They were training a nurse and were also supportive and encouraging of her as well. Overall a very positive experience: BMI Hendon created a relaxing atmosphere, which I greatly appreciated.

Although the actual verteabroplasty surgery took place at the BMI Stepney Green, London, the surgeon who carried out the actual operation is based in BMI Hendon. This review is mainly for Mr Rohit Ratnakar Shetty. On 3rd March 2017 I sustained a serious injury and fractured T12. I am an NHS patient and finally in October 2016 I received a call from Charing Cross Hospital (imperial nhs trust), after being referred to by my consultant in Northwick Park. The pain I went through for nearly 9 months was excruciating and I was given Bunov patches, Fentanyl patches (stronger than morphine), 8 tramadols a day to start with which I had to cut down drastically because I needed my brain to function as I am also a carer (and got no help or support apart from friends). I have always been coping with pain, through my life and have had spinal problems since a very young age. I was introduced to Mr Shetty in October 2016. He was very thorough and extremely efficient in explaining why I was in so much pain and during my second consultation with Mr Shetty it was mutually decided that vertabroplasty was the best solution. Mr Shetty explained in details the risks, therefore I was well aware of them. Due the urgency of the situation, a month later I went to BMI London Independent and underwent the surgery (27th November). The staff were nice and Mr Shetty came into my room before the surgery and explained to my daughter and friend the procedure. Because of a heart problem the general anaesthetic was well considered. When I woke up, I had no after effect of the anaesthetic. Mr Shetty again visited my room and talked to my daughter for aftercare. 6 Weeks later, i.e. yesterday 5th January I again had a visit at BMI Hendon and really had to express my heartfelt sincere gratitude to Mr Shetty who showed us (my friend and I) the actual procedure on the screen. Amazing!! Of course the right consistency to the cement must have been quite tricky and a great responsibility on the part of the surgeon. The pain is very faint and have faith that it will disappear very soon, and I do not need all these strong drugs any more. I have no problem walking which is wonderful after being bedridden and more or less housebound for over nearly 9 months. I will always be grateful to Mr Shetty for his immense care and expertise in carrying out a surgery which could have gone dangerously wrong. THANK YOU Mr Shetty. Catherine

From the first appointment with my consultant, Mr Nandlal, I was treated very well and given all the information regarding my surgery and aftercare. I was greeted by friendly staff and shown to my room by the lovely ward clerk, Franka, and given many options for lunch by the friendly pantry lady, Menika. I was very anxious when I arrived on the day of surgery, but all the staff made me feel at ease, especially the amazing nurses, Sue, Eileen and Maria. The theatre staff were fantastic and talked to me throughout the operation (done under local anaesthetic) so a big thank you to Bradley and Asta and all else who were there, even the student nurses helped cheer me up. I was so well looked after and told that I could ring the ward if I had any problems, and even given the consultant gave me his bleep number in case of real emergency. I felt safe the whole way through and would definitely go here for any further operations.
